Checking in

i think i’m going to change the direction of this blog and turn it in to a site for black conscious merchandise and other information pertaining to the black community. i’ve been exercising my asshole tendencies on another blog, but i’m going to still post here.  don’t cry, i’m not really going anywhere lol.  peace.

I’m bored

So. . . I will be changing my site over the weekend because I’m tired of looking at it.  It’s too dark, too naked, too “something”!  Bear with me — I will get it together.

Me and the baby in the photo are about to go to sleep.  Goodnight, see you tomorrow.

It’s been a while. . .

Well not really, but I reneged on my “post everyday” commitment. I went hard for a minute, but I seriously needed a break from everything. Conscious talk/reading/studying/youtubing, etc. can get overwhelming @ times, and now I need to concentrate on something else. . .

Getting healthy :)

Yes boys and girls I am on a 6 month quest of healthy living.  I’m changing my eating lifestyle forever (bye chicken, bacon, outback, eggs, some cheese, candy, coffee, subway, penn station, jackie chen’s, wendy’s, I can go on forever) but you can’t tell if something is working unless you give it a 6 month go-hard.  So that’s what I’m doing.

This is probably the hardest thing I will ever do, but I love challenges.  Plus, the universe has slapped me around enough for me to realize that I can’t eat that bullshit anymore.  That’s exactly what all that taste-good shit-tite is.   If I’m a black queen (lol) then I need to stop playin and show everyone, especially other black queens, how to eat and live right.

I had a really interesting conversation on my way back from Vegas last spring break with a woman who was reading “Skinny Bitch.”   If you haven’t heard of it I highly recommend it.  It’s like a book version of Food, Inc. written by two funny white vegan bitches who keep it real.  They used to eat McDonald’s everyday (like me) until they said f-it and changed their life styles.  It will change your life, or at least your thought process for a while.  So don’t be a bitch — read it! Random Bullshit

My friends call me “random” sometimes because I tend to say whatever pops in my head. So, I started this section called “Random Bullshit” for the never-ending blurbs of thought that cross my mind.

Here’s the first random thought of the day. . .

Coming from a small-boobed chick (who buys shirts too big sometimes),

“why do women with big boobs insist buy too small tops?”

I was in a store fitting room today checking out a top I liked in the “big” mirror, when I saw a young female wanting to do the same thing. The top she had on was cute, but the way her boobs (and stomach) were holding on for dear life was not! It was so tight I took a breath for her in passing. Fucked up thing was, she asked her friend if the shirt looked nice and this beyosh said “Yeah. . . you should get it for tonight!” (Whaat?? *Blank stare*)

In my head I’m thinking, “if she sneezes she’s fucked (lol).” Now I’m not saying every chick has to be have a model-esque physique, but regardless of a woman’s figure she should know what looks good and what doesn’t look good on her. Too small/tight clothing looks good on no-one, at all. If you can’t breath in the shit don’t buy it, and stop bullshitting yourself into thinking you’re gonna lose those 10 lbs that have been irking you forever. Ain’t gonna happen. Stop stuffing size 20 bellies-and-tittays into size 8 shirts ladies. And, stop asking your friends (who can’t measure either) for their opinion because most of them won’t tell you straight up that you look “fucked up.”

And fellas, same goes for you! You guys miss the mark with your size choices also.

Love, Rox

Gabrielle union

Here’s a blog entry by Miss Union in response to the death of Chris Henry:

“Today we lost another young, talented, black man. Like so many men and women in this world, Chris Henry had seen his share of trouble and adversity…and just like so many other men and women in this world, he realized it’s never too late to turn your life around. How many more lives need to be lost before we realize that as good Christians (as many of us like to call ourselves), spiritual beings or just plain old good folks we need to STOP THE JUDGEMENT and try to lift each other up when we’ve fallen off the path.

New Video: Rihanna feat. Jeezy “Hard”

Love the military theme. RiRi is clearly talking shit in this record, but I think it’s hot. The jury’s still out on her album Rated R — I like 80% of it, but I can do without Firebomb and Photographs. Both songs sound like the music you hear during closing movie credits.

Cool video.

Ooooohhhh

Pure hilarity

Young Money on The Monique Show

Lil Wayne and his group Young Money were on The Monique Show this morning. I think it aired last night, but I was knocked.

I’m a HUGE fan of Lil Wayne and Drake, and now the whole crew is starting to grow on me. I do need Jae Millz to drop an album already though. . . I’m just sayin. I can’t keep replaying him killing Ness on Making The Band that year.

Some interesting bits:

If Weezy wasn’t a famous rapper he would be studying Law @ a university. That’s hot!

Mack Maine (such a cutie) and Lil Wayne go way back to the b-ball courts in Hollygrove, LA; Wayne didn’t play he just rhymed — Maine thought he was weird for that. Lol

Nicki Minaj is affectionately labeled “the mistress” — she didn’t seem to like that (I don’t blame her).

Nicki Minaj is starting to grow on me — after Foxy and Lil Kim fell off I said to hell with female rappers, but I really like her energy and her flow isn’t half bad. I do wish she would replace the corsets though. . . that’s just my opinion. No hate, for real.

Watch YM perform “Bedrock” above. Is it just me or am I feeling “Girl You Know” w/Omarion better? Hmmm. Heart u Lloyd.

[Thanx: 1 & 2]

Ignorance ain’t bliss *con’t*

The other day I posted “Ignorance ain’t bliss,” but didn’t finish it. Now that classes are over, I am going to “try” and post something everyday — regardless of what it is. Yeah, we’ll see how that goes. Anyways, back to the post.

Okay, so I left off with “effective and defective” ignorance (I made that up myself, hehe). Before I dwell further, let me tell you about the 2nd incident. It’s not really an incident; it was a meeting, but it was very interesting non-the-less.

The meeting was at my university and run by a student organization associated with uniting Black students. The program was regarding whether Jesus is real or not, and of course I was up in there! LOL. I didn’t go to “bash Jesus,” (yeah I did) but I went more-so to really see how many so-called African Studies majors[and minors] were still walking around with crosses around their necks. Foreal, how can you be Black and teach African Studies, but still be a Christian? You can’t. That’s like handing Kobe a baseball and telling him to dribble. He’s looking @ you like “WTF” and so am I.

So. . . at the meeting they showed the first 30 minutes of Zeitgeist, explaining how Jesus, Krishna, etc. were stories taken from the original ancient Egyptian(African) God Ausara. I’m sure many of the kids there hadn’t seen the movie before, but the information was nothing new. The professors in the department have been saying this shit forever, but students (and some faculty) still won’t connect the dots. I spoke on how religion is a tool of oppression and promotes blind faith, and how followers walk blindly which makes it easier for things to blow over their heads. Until its too late, then they go pray to whomever they keep praying to, hoping this “whatever” will fix their problems. I think that’s insane, and apparently so does Albert Einstein, who famously said:

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Praying doesn’t change anything about your situation. If that was the case then slavery would NOT have happened, along with all the other inhumane things people do to people. Come on! I sat in that lecture hall really baffled by how many people actually believe that a man named Jesus really walked the Earth. They think this person was the last of the perfect humans. LMAO! Have you ever seen a fucking perfect human? No. But, I guess Jesus was one of these unknown people. This is why Christians, especially Black Christians, are detriments to society. You don’t critically think, at all. You would rather be followers of people that don’t even like you — they want to take all your shit, erase you, and claim credit for it. You’re part of a religion used to justify your enslavement, rape and death of your ancestors. But, Jesus is your homeboy? Yeah whatever. I feel sorry for your kids. . . .
